Following a successful bake sale, supported by learners, parents, staff, and the wider school community, MCS raised R5 140 to adopt Sir Wingston (Turquoise Black 26), a rescued adult male Cape Vulture. Sir Wingston was admitted to VulPro in 2021 after sustaining a permanent wing injury and now serves as an ambassador for vulture conservation.
Community Service Prefect Cayla-Jade Smith said the school chose Sir Wingston because “he represents the confidence and resilience we strive to instil in every MCS learner.”
The fundraiser not only supported the protection of one of South Africa’s most endangered bird species but also helped raise awareness of the vital role vultures play in the environment.
MCS extends its sincere thanks to everyone who baked, donated, and supported the initiative. Together, the school community is making a lasting contribution to conservation, one vulture at a time.
