Since early on Tuesday, teams from the police’s Water Wing, SRU Maritime Search and Rescue, and Hartbeespoort Dam Marine Law Enforcement have been conducting coordinated grid searches across the dam in an ongoing effort to locate the missing skipper.
The 37-year-old man went missing when a speedboat capsized on the dam at around 17:00 on Sunday. Eight passengers were rescued by a passing boat.
“Our thoughts remain with the skipper’s loved ones during this difficult time. We acknowledge the dedication and continued efforts of all personnel involved in the search operation,” said Arthur Crewe, head of the Hartbeespoort Marine Law Enforcement Unit.
