According to a business owner in Ifafi, they noticed a very bad smell when they opened their business early in the morning. While trying to establish where the smell was coming from, they discovered it was emanating from a nearby mini-substation in Boem Crescent Street.
Thinking it might be a rat, a worker opened the unlocked door and discovered the body. Police were on the scene soon after the discovery.
According to police spokesperson Colonel Anne Magakoe, police officers responded to the scene where they discovered the body of a young adult male, believed to be a homeless individual known in the area.
“The body was transported to the government mortuary in Brits for a post-mortem examination to determine the cause of death. An inquest docket has been opened, and investigations are ongoing,” she said.
