Hartbeespoort Dam waterfront leases expected to be announced soon

The Department of Water and Sanitation (DWS) confirmed on Tuesday that 15 applications for land leases along the Hartbeespoort Dam waterfront have been approved and are currently undergoing a vetting process.

According to DWS spokesperson Wisane Mavasa, the vetting process is aimed at ensuring compliance with all legal and administrative requirements before the agreements are finalised.

“The lease agreements can only be finalised once all required documentation from applicants has been received and verified to ensure lawful and procedurally compliant administrative action,” she said.

The department said in an earlier statement that the applications “comprising of 9 Blacks and 6 Whites” await evaluation by the Office of the Valuer-General (OVG) to determine the rental fees.

Once the vetting process is complete, the department will announce the successful lessees.

“The Department remains committed to concluding the lease agreements as soon as all requirements have been met,” Mavasa said.
