The discovery comes a day after skeletal human remains were found in the dam on Wednesday.
Police divers, together with the Hartbeespoort Dam Marine Law Enforcement Unit, retrieved the body of a man at around 22:00 on Thursday evening near the Ifafi shoreline.
According to police spokesperson Captain Majang Skalkie, a drowning was reported on Sunday. “During the search operation, the body of an unidentified male, estimated to be approximately 20 years old, was discovered on Thursday night.
The deceased was wearing black trousers,” she said. “An inquest docket has been opened, and investigations are ongoing.”
Arthur Crewe of the Hartbeespoort Dam Marine Law Enforcement Unit said the search for the missing fisherman, who was reported to have drowned in the Meerhof area, has been ongoing since Sunday.
