A major highlight was a masterclass led by Matthew Blackburn, who guided learners through advanced painting techniques. Blackburn, a self-taught contemporary artist known for his highly detailed acrylic works, draws inspiration from people, nature, and film, with a strong focus on reflecting South African diversity through still life and portraiture.
Participants applied these principles in hands-on exercises such as drybrush and dabbing methods, gaining insight into achieving depth and realism in acrylic painting.
