According to police spokesperson Colonel Anne Magakoe, the 19-year-old was reported missing on Friday, 7 August.
She said that during the investigation, police received information about a person of interest who was allegedly last seen with the teenager in Rashoop.
Brits police apprehended the suspect, Johannes Mokoena (46), the next day and he allegedly volunteered to show police where the missing person could be found.
“He took police to a pit toilet behind his shack. Upon opening it, police discovered the body of a teenage male whose hands, legs and neck were bound,” Magakoe said.
Police also found two golf clubs, which are suspected to have been used during the murder.
Mokoena was arrested and charged with murder, kidnapping, and defeating and obstructing the ends of justice.
He appeared in the Brits Magistrate’s Court this week and was remanded in custody until his next court appearance.
